Ingredients
3 cups french beans , stringed and thinly sliced
1/4 cup soaked chana dal (split bengal gram)
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)
4 to 6 curry leaves (kadi patta)
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
1 tsp grated ginger (adrak)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
2 tsp oil
salt to taste
For The Garnish1/4 cup chopped coriander (dhania)
Method
- Heat the oil in a non-stick pan and add the mustard seeds. When they crackle, add the urad dal and sauté for a few seconds.
- Add the curry leaves, asafoetida and ginger and stir for a few more seconds.
- Add the french beans, chana dal, turmeric powder, salt and ½ cup of water, mix well and cover with a lid.
- Cook over a low flame till the french beans and chana dal are cooked.
- Remove the lid, increase the flame and stir-fry over a high flame till all the water evaporates.
- Serve hot garnished with coriander.
